Jobs and Opportunities

Overview

The Halifax Infirmary Expansion Project is creating job, training and business opportunities for Nova Scotians.

The Skilled Trades and Equity Plan (STEP) connects local workers and businesses with employment and procurement opportunities throughout the project.

STEP is led by Build Nova Scotia and PCL Construction, working with industry, government and community partners.

Working closely with the Nova Scotia Apprenticeship Agency, STEP focuses on:

  • increasing the number of registered apprentices
  • supporting certification of journeypersons
  • building the skilled workforce needed for future infrastructure projects

STEP also works with underrepresented communities to grow a strong pipeline of skilled trades professionals.

Together, these efforts help build a resilient construction workforce that will support Nova Scotia for decades to come.
